Doubtless you will have heard by now that unfortunately Sodbury Sortout Land Rover autojumble 5th April 2008 is no more. In case you are wondering, this mass email is being sent to all the 4x4 and off-road clubs as even Jap/Jeep owners sometimes have some Land Rover parts and spares to sell or need to buy). Just in case you haven't heard, their website states:-

Please Note all Newbury Sortouts are cancelled for 2008 .. please join our mailing list for further information of NEW Venues and alternatives for 2008.

I have launched a series of nine events that obviously need to be publicised, and as the first event is 16th March I have missed the boat for many national, regional and local club magazines and newsletters.

LATEST NEWS No. 1:

To save a wasted journey, thought you might like to know the following was announced 3rd February 2008 by the Old Sodbury Sortout organiser:-  All Newbury Sortouts have been are cancelled for 2008, but you are invited to join our mailing list for further information of NEW Venues and alternatives for 2008.   Please note this refers to both the Land Rover and vintage sortouts. www.oldsodburysortout.co.uk

LATEST NEWS No. 2:

In the planning stage since last year, coincidentally a series of nine 4x4 Sunday markets have been launched that should -fill the gap- so to speak. As the Organiser Tom McGuigan put it "Although never intended to take over from Sodbury, hopefully the 4x4 Markets will however soften the blow of the Newbury Sortout events being cancelled as now there is still an outlet to buy and sell your Land Rover and Jap/Jeep bits -n- bobs".  www.4x4-market.co.uk

4x4 MARKET

Land Rover ~ Jap ~ Jeep

Building on knowledge gained over 10 years organising major national 4x4 events, the time has come to launch a completely new event that has been waiting in the wings for some time - 4x4 Market.

Comprising a series of nine Sunday markets held each month from March to November, 4x4 Market features a large 4x4 autojumble area (approx. 80% Land Rover, 20% Jap 'n' Jeep), 4x4 and off-road trade stands, a 'Vehicles For Sale' Area and an optional reduced fee off-road course at every venue @ only £15 play-all-day.

As all the family are welcome, additional non-4x4 related trade stands will be present together with displays and attractions, kids amusements, refreshments and free parking. Admission £5 adults, children (under 16 yrs) free.  8.30am - 4.00pm

INFO ABOUT CLUB DISPLAY STANDS:

Free Club Display Stands are available upon application (with as many display vehicles as you wish), but being a Sunday event as opposed to a full-blown 3-day 4x4 show, all persons staffing the pitch have to pay their £5 admission fee in the normal manner. Basically this entry fee helps pay for the venue! Children under 16 years old are still free of course.

The only other thing I ask is that clubs/groups make an effort by displaying an information board, distribute flyers about the club or an event they are running or associated with (flyers distributed from within the confines of the pitch please NOT the car park been there, done it!) tell the world about their charitable works or assistance to the rescue services in times of disaster or whatever your club/group is all about. Displays incorporating hi-lift jacks/logs/axle-stands/etc. also encouraged; as long as they are safe, then no problem. The selling of club merchandise is also okay, but no new or used parts/accessories please - clubs/groups taking the Mick by ignoring this basic rule will simply be charged for an autojumble or trade pitch! Last but not least, the selling of food or drink from a Club Display Stand is not permitted.

Basically, a club/internet forum group may promote itself or its events as much as they like, thats how we all get along in the wonderful world of off-roading! LAND ROVER, JAP OR JEEP, WE'RE ALL IN IT TOGETHER - LET'S BEAT THE MOANING "ANTIS"!!!

To book a Club Display Stand, simply contact myself Tom McGuigan via email or in person by phone.

Thank you.

That's it. As I said, by informing the membership you would be doing everyone a huge favour (including myself admittedly), so please give this some serious thought  including asking your committee/officials/forum administrators about a possible Club Display Stand!
